Frank Nazar starting to find his game

Frank Nazar is coming off of his 2nd career overtime game-winning-goal last night on home ice against the Utah Mammoth, his 6th point in 6 games. Is it safe to say he is back?

let’s go back in time - On February 28th the Blackhawks lost 3-1 to the Colorado Avalanche, and it marked the end of a 20 game stretch where Frank Nazar had only 2 goals and 7 points, including 5 games straight without a point. Fast forward to today? Nazar has 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists), a 4 game point streak, 2 multi-point games, and an OT winner, all in his last 4 games.

With a 7 year, $46 million contract kicking in this September, Nazar needs to get back to this level of play more consistently. “Frank has high expectations, and we have high expectations of Frank, and those are going to be high next year. He is a second year NHL player, like, it’s not an easy league”…”Sometimes things go your way and sometimes they don’t”- Head Coach Jeff Blashill after Monday’s OT victory. Nazar really won over Blackhawks fans in the final 8 games of the 2024-2025 season by scoring 5 goals and 9 points, including his 1st career OT winner in game #82 in Ottawa.

For the first time since the month of October, Nazar looks to be back to form.

Another improvement to Nazar’s game has been his performance in the faceoffs department. Over his last 4 games Nazar has won 52% of his contests at the dot, in his 4 before that he won 45.65%. An area the Blackhawks as a team have struggled.

The Blackhawks will see the Mammoth for the 3rd time since March 1st, in their 4th and final meeting on Thursday. The Blackhawks have seen plenty of success against the Mammoth this season, winning all 3 prior matchups (outscoring Utah 10-3). Can Frank Nazar stay on his hot streak?
